Terms of Service
Last updated 8 October 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Cockadoodle Branding Consulting FZCO, trading as Cockadoodle Studio (“Echo”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones (IFZA), Licence No. 60173, at A1 IFZA Buildings, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. They govern your use of the Echo apps for iPhone and Android, the website echoforever.io, and everything Echo sends you.
You accept these Terms by creating an account, and again each time you use Echo. Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms and explains what we do with personal data. If you do not agree, do not use Echo.
These Terms are written in English. Where we provide a translation, the English text governs.
2. What Echo is
Echo lets you keep the moments you never want to lose — videos, photos, voice notes and written messages — in collections called echograms. You can build an echogram together with the people you love by inviting co-creators, share it privately with only the people you choose, or send it into the future to open on a date you set, from tomorrow to decades from now, including a date after your lifetime. When an echogram opens, the people you shared it with can reply with a message, voice note or photo. You can also nominate Keepers to look after your account if you die, ask Echo Assist questions about using Echo, and take part in Sparks. Echo has no public feed and no followers: only the people you name can see an echogram. Some features are released as beta, which means they may change or be withdrawn; we label them.
We run Echo with reasonable care and skill. Delivery on a future date depends on Echo still operating on that date and on your recipients’ contact details still working. Keep them up to date, and keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable; Echo is a way to deliver memories, not the only place they should exist.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be 16 or older to use Echo, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age. By creating an account you confirm that you are.
- One person, one account. Do not create an account for someone else without their permission, and do not use another person’s account.
- Give us accurate details and keep them current. Keep your sign-in method secure; you are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at once at support@echoforever.io if you think someone else has used it.
- We may ask you to verify your identity, by a code sent to the address on your account, before acting on a request about your account or your data.
4. Your content
It is yours. You keep every right you have in the content you add. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, encrypt, copy, process, transmit and display your content, and to make previews, thumbnails and resized or compressed versions of it, only to run Echo for you — including delivering your content to the people you choose and showing it to them.
When the licence ends. It ends when you delete the content or your account. Three things sit outside it:
- memories you added to someone else’s echogram as a co-creator stay in that echogram after you delete your account, and the licence continues for those memories only;
- anything a recipient viewed, saved or downloaded while they had access is theirs to keep;
- copies in our backups are removed on the backup schedule, which is a short period.
What deleting does. Deleting an echogram or your account removes it for everyone, including recipients and scheduled deliveries. Deletion is immediate and permanent. The Privacy Policy, section 15, lists what survives.
Your responsibilities. Only add content you have the right to use and share. If a memory shows or records other people, you are responsible for having their permission where the law requires it, and for anything about a child in your care being appropriate. You must not add content that breaks section 6.
We do not monitor content. We do not look inside your echograms. We act on content only when someone reports it, when a court or authority requires us to, or when our systems detect a breach of these Terms from information outside the content itself.
5. Recipients, co-creators and Keepers
Recipients. You decide who receives each echogram and when it unlocks. When you share, we send your recipients an invitation by email, text message or notification; it includes your name and the echogram’s name, so only name people whose details you are allowed to give us. Recipients who are not Echo users open an echogram in their browser after entering a code we send to their email address. Once an echogram is shared, its unlock date can be moved earlier but not later. You can remove a recipient’s access at any time; we cannot undo what they viewed, saved or downloaded while they had it, and a viewing link they already hold works until it expires. Recipients learn that you shared with them; you can see whether and when a recipient opened a share.
Co-creators. A co-creator can add memories to your echogram and see the other memories in it, including who the echogram is for and those people’s contact details. A memory you mark private can be opened only by you and the recipients it unlocks for; co-creators see that it exists and a heavily blurred preview, and cannot open it. As the owner you can remove a co-creator, and you can delete any memory in your echogram, including private ones and ones a co-creator added.
Keepers. You can nominate up to three people and give each a key yourself. Depending on the access level you choose, a Keeper may, after your death, see only counts (the default) or open the specific echograms you selected. When a Keeper uses their key to make a claim, we tell you by every way you gave us, and nothing is released for 30 days; opening the Echo app or using the link we send closes the claim. If you do neither, the claim takes effect automatically. Echo does not review claims and does not judge documents a Keeper uploads; a document shortens nothing. A Keeper whose claim has taken effect can delay a scheduled delivery that has not happened yet, by up to 30 days, and can never cancel one or bring one forward. We cannot guarantee that every claim is genuine or that every delivery happens; choosing Keepers you trust, and the access level you give them, is your responsibility.
Recipients, co-creators and Keepers who use Echo must follow these Terms too.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use Echo to:
- store, share or send anything unlawful where you are or where we are, including any material that sexually exploits children, which we report to the authorities;
- share intimate images of someone without their consent, or harass, threaten, defame or intimidate anyone;
- infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- impersonate a person or organisation, or mislead people about who you are or who sent something;
- spread malware, spam, or unsolicited commercial messages, or use Echo’s invitations and share links to do so;
- probe, scan, overload or interfere with Echo, bypass its access controls or its plan limits, scrape it, or try to reach content you were not given access to;
- resell Echo or use it to provide a service to others without our written agreement.
7. Reports, moderation and appeals
Anyone who can see a memory, echogram or comment can report it from its menu, and anyone can block another person. Blocking removes their shares to you, declines their pending co-creator invitations, removes them as your Keeper, and hides their comments and notifications; they are not told.
When we act on a report we may hide the content from every view, including the uploader’s, or suspend or close an account. We tell the person affected what happened, which rule it concerned, that the action can be reversed, and how to appeal: by replying to our message or writing to support@echoforever.io within 7 days. We answer appeals within 7 days. We act on reports of illegal content within 24 hours. We may report unlawful content to the authorities and preserve it for that purpose. We never disclose who reported. Our moderation tools do not open echogram content.
8. Plans, payments and subscriptions
How plans are sold. Paid plans are sold only through the Apple App Store and Google Play. The store charges you, applies its own terms (Apple’s Media Services Terms, the Google Play Terms of Service) and handles taxes, invoices and refunds. We never receive your card details.
Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or annual) unless you cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings at least 24 hours before the period ends. Any free trial is described in the store at purchase and converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends. Deleting your Echo account does not cancel your subscription; cancel it in the store.
Refunds are decided by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue a refund for a store purchase ourselves. This does not limit rights you have under consumer law (section 17).
Price and plan changes. We may change prices or what a plan includes. The store tells you before a price change applies to a renewal, and you can cancel before it does.
Plan limits. Each plan has limits on storage, the number of echograms and the number of recipients per echogram, shown in Settings and in the store. Echo Essentials (free) includes 500 MB of storage, 2 echograms and 5 recipients per echogram; Echo Core and Echo Plus include more; every plan allows files up to 2 GB and places no time limit on recordings. When an addition would exceed your account’s storage limit it is refused at once and kept safely on your phone until there is room or you upgrade. When a paid plan ends, everything you have already saved stays in your account and remains deliverable; additions beyond the free limits wait.
9. Echo Assist and automated features
Echo Assist is a helper in beta. Its answers are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete; do not rely on them for decisions that matter, and never treat them as legal, medical or financial advice. Your messages, with the recent conversation, are processed by our AI provider as the Privacy Policy, section 7, describes; your chat history stays on your phone. To protect the service, repeated misuse of Echo Assist leads to a temporary cool-down during which it answers without contacting the provider. Such limits affect only Echo’s features, and you can ask a person to review one by email.
10. Sparks
Sparks are optional prompts and surveys from the Echo team. We use what you vote or answer to improve Echo, in aggregate; your individual answers are not shown to other users.
11. Intellectual property and feedback
Echo, its software, design, name and logos belong to Cockadoodle Branding Consulting FZCO or its licensors. These Terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Echo apps and website as they are provided; they do not give you any right to Echo’s name or marks. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them without obligation to you. Echo includes open-source components under their own licences, listed in the app’s About screen.
12. Third-party services
Signing in with Apple or Google, store purchases, notifications and the other third-party services the Privacy Policy names are provided under those companies’ terms. We are not responsible for them.
13. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms. It explains what we collect, how your content is protected, who can see it, and how to delete it.
14. Changes to Echo, and if Echo closes
We keep improving Echo and may add, change or withdraw features, giving notice where a change matters to you. If we ever have to discontinue Echo, we will give you at least 90 days’ notice by email and in the app, keep the app and the web viewer working during that time so that you can save your memories to your device, and deliver scheduled echograms that fall due in that period. We do not promise that Echo will exist indefinitely, and nothing in Echo should be your only copy of something irreplaceable.
15. Ending your account
By you. Delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent; section 4 and the Privacy Policy describe what is removed and what survives.
By us. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if your account has been used in a way that harms Echo or other people. Where practical we tell you first and give you a chance to save your memories. Section 7 describes the notice and appeal you receive.
16. Disclaimers
Echo is provided “as is” and “as available”, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that Echo will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any delivery — scheduled, legacy or through a Keeper — will happen, or that Echo Assist’s answers are correct. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot replace.
17. Our liability, and your rights that cannot be limited
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of Echo in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or, if you paid nothing, to AED 200 (or EUR 50, INR 5,000, or the equivalent in your currency). We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data you could have saved to your device.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your law gives you that cannot be excluded or limited, including under the UAE Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection, European Union and United Kingdom consumer law, India’s Consumer Protection Act 2019, and, for people in Australia, the Australian Consumer Law; where those rights and these Terms differ, those rights win.
18. Your responsibility to us
To the extent the law allows, you will compensate us for losses we suffer because of content you added or shared in breach of section 4 or 6, or because of your unlawful use of Echo. This does not apply to a consumer where the law does not permit it.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. Disputes are subject to the courts of Dubai. If you are a consumer, you may also rely on the mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live and bring a claim in its courts where that law gives you the right. Before either of us starts proceedings, we each agree to try to resolve the matter by writing to the other: for us, support@echoforever.io; for you, the email address on your account.
20. Terms that apply when you use the iPhone app
These Terms are between you and Echo, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. The licence in section 11 is limited to a non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms allow. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Echo, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance and consumer protection claims, and for investigating and resolving any claim that the app infringes a third party’s intellectual property. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Questions and claims about the app go to support@echoforever.io, Cockadoodle Branding Consulting FZCO, A1 IFZA Buildings, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, UAE.
21. Terms that apply when you use the Android app
The Google Play Terms of Service apply to your download of the app from Google Play. Where those terms and these Terms differ about the download itself, Google’s terms apply; otherwise these Terms govern your use of Echo.
22. Export and encryption
Echo encrypts your content on your device using standard, published algorithms. You may not use Echo in breach of export-control or sanctions laws that apply to you or to us.
23. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Echo about Echo. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest stays in force. We may assign these Terms to a successor to our business; you may not assign them. If we do not enforce a term, we have not given it up. Notices to you go to the email address on your account or appear in the app; notices to us go to support@echoforever.io.
24. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required by law or concerns a new feature, in which case we tell you when it launches. If you keep using Echo after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, delete your account before then.
